Purpose Provide electronic maintenance and troubleshooting in maintaining efficient electrical systems throughout the facility. Assist in electrical upgrades and electrical engineering projects to ensure machine reliability and uptime. II. Duties Task 1: Electronic Diagnostics and Repair Collect broken electronics from all departments utilizing tool cart. (Cart is 18x33”, 37” high; requires 17.5 pounds of force to push.) Fix broken electronics on work table. (Table set at 39” high and equipped with stools.) Provide assistance to determine the difference between process problems and maintenance corrective actions. Detect electronic malfunctions and repair malfunctions. Task 2: Paperwork/ Computer Entry Review paperwork for jobs to be completed. Enter parts collected and fixed into computer system. Task 3: Lead Duties Provide direction to union maintenance on day to day tasks that are directed from management. Responsible for decision making on maintaining plant production operations. Communicate issues to supervision and management by sending shift reports on open and closed items daily. Complete investigations on safety and disciplinary actions for upper management review. Work with contractors to resolve issues when necessary to meet productions and downtime needs. Approve overtime on and emergency breakdown basis. Provide technical advice to electricians. Responsible for communicating instructions to mechanical leads. Responsible for communicating and working with on shift crew leaders. Responsible for Maximo work order flow. Responsible for decisions if equipment must be shut down for safety or possible further equipment failure in conjunction with on shift crew leader. Responsible for spot checking work (mechanical and electrical) to ensure timely completion of all work. Responsible shift turn over. Responsible for OSHA mandated monthly safety training. Responsible for reporting to supervision for disciplinary action. Task 4: Other Duties, but not all inclusive Provide all PLC programming updates for process teams. Approve all PLC codes written by other electricians. Coordinate machine drive troubleshooting. Provide assistance to determine the difference between process problems and maintenance corrective actions. Research machine upgrades to increase run-ability and uptime. Responsible for Reeco control system loop changes. Responsible for remote warehouse machinery repair and upgrades. Detect electronic malfunctions and repair. Read blueprints and schematics prior to equipment installation or repairs. Troubleshoot all electrical problems. Maintain and repair equipment and machinery as needed. Travel to other location for problem solving solutions/repairs. III. Knowledge 1. Requirements Associates Degree in Electronics. Five (5) years practical experience in machine installation, wiring and maintenance in a manufacturing environment is required including 3-Phase power conversion, AC/DC drive systems, process instrumentation, temperature control using Thermocouples and RTDs, and PLC’s programming and repair. Ability to communicate both verbally and in written from with all levels of plant personnel, engineers, electricians, mechanics, supervisors, and outside vendors. Good computer skills and knowledge of office software and Internet access search. Good math skills in math calculations and conversion units of measurements. As well as ability to perform geometrical calculations. Read electronic, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics; both domestic and European. Understand mechanical drawings. Pass Electronics test. 2. Sources The Electronics Technician must have the skills and ability to comprehend and apply the following: Theory Practical Application – Example Advanced Electrical Theory Servo Motor control, PID Loops Advanced D-C Drive Technology Siemens & Eurotherm Digital Drives Advanced A-C Drive Technology Siemens, Allen Bradley,, Eurotherm Digital Drives PLC Programming General Electric, Automation Direct, Allen-Bradley Project Coordinator Winder Drive Updates Sensor Technology Analytical Instruments Control Loop Programming Temperature & Process Controllers: Eurotherm, Honeywell Drive Tuning Process Control Stopping to Minimize Waste IV. Contacts 1. Internal Has daily contact with senior engineers and department supervisors with relation to work assignments and direction. 2. External Has contact with outside suppliers, repair facilities, and machine manufacturers. V. Responsibility Safety is top priority. Preventative electrical maintenance. Research system changes and maintain equipment to ensure the highest level of machine productivity is achieved. Accountable for making complex decisions, which require knowledge and understanding of both time and dollars in equipment repair or replacement. Understand decisions may impact process downtime, costly equipment damage/repair, and safety implications. Coordinate work not only with maintenance and operating departments, but act as a resource for planning, organizing, and implementing process improvements in the qualified fields. Be willing to work all shifts which include weekends. Be willing to work overtime as the need arises. Comply with all AIB, Safety, and Company policies. Participate and attend on-site employee meetings. Regular attendance is required. **This is a rotating overnight shifts either 6pm-6am or 7pm-7am depending on the department.
