Engineering Support Technician
Company Description
Broadcast Concepts Inc was established in 2004. We manufacture RF power amplifiers and passive components for commercial, military, medical and custom applications. RF design, manufacturing and sales is conducted at our facility in Medley FL. The owner is the Principal Electrical Engineer for the company with 30 years of RF design experience.
Position Requirements
RF design engineers are responsible for utilizing RF circuit modeling tools like Keysight ADS, Genesis/Eagleware or Ansys HFSS and PCB layout tools like (Orcad) with advanced proficiency in the design and implementation of active and passive RF engineering development activities. The designs will include any combination of lumped element and distributed structures.
This position does not require the applicant to perform at the level of an RF design engineer or have knowledge of the design tools described above; rather, the engineering support technician will be working closely with the owner to assist in new product development and existing product support. The applicant must be capable of eventually growing into the role of an electrical engineer and fair market pay will be adjusted upward in lock step with the individual’s progress.
This position focuses on accomplishing product developments using industry stand modeling tools, coupled with empirical laboratory testing and feedback to better correlate measured vs model accuracy, improve modeling methods and techniques, and reduce overall product development time.
Job Functions including but not limited to the following:
· Maintain technical proficiency, keeping abreast of latest technologies, RF devices and trends, including analysis and test software.
· Collaborate with the owner to track all technical developments according to established schedule and costing.
· Review, update and generate company procedures and processes to ensure the highest level of design and manufacturing standards are achieved and maintained.
· Update existing designs or suggest new ones for obsolete RF devices.
· Some light mechanical drafting is required in Autocad or Mastercam.
Level of education and experience:
· Minimum associate degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field.
Skills & Abilities
· Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills in English. Spanish speaking is a plus but not required.
· Must have established proficiency and experience using CAD tools. This is one of the most important skills required. The applicant must be able to learn how to use new EDA software.
· Real-word, strong lab analysis and debug experience required to verify simulated performance
· Must have demonstrated excellent hands-on ability to assemble, tune, test, troubleshoot hardware.
· Must have demonstrated previous experience with surface mount manufacturing methods and techniques and hand soldering.
· Experience and knowledge in the design and implementation of couplers, dividers, baluns, transformers, filters, diplexers, and amplifiers is a plus.
· Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation depends on experience and benefits are negotiable. Local candidates are preferred since relocation benefits and travel costs for interviews are not budgeted.
