JOB TITLE:   

Group Fitness Instructor

JOB PURPOSE:   

Group Fitness Instructors lead and engage with the Campus Recreation community. The Fitness Program at UW strives daily to encourage a healthy, balanced lifestyle to all participants through inspiration, teamwork, and positivity. We take pride in providing excellent programs and services that create opportunities for positive behavior modification, academic success, and student retention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Obtain and maintain necessary fitness certifications within the first 6 months of employment. 
• Create a welcoming and inclusive group exercise environment and ensure that every participant has a positive movement-based experience. 
• Design and implement safe, effective, and enjoyable group fitness classes.
• Have a solid understanding of exercise science, class program design anatomy, and wellness principles.
• Provide personalized attention and customer service to class participants and Campus Recreation patrons.
• Display a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
• Utilize scheduling and fitness software.
• Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings.
• Obtain or show proof of CPR/1^st Aid.
• Assist with special programs/workshops/fairs.
• Assist with cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

• MUST BE A STUDENT to apply.
