Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Medical Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. As an Emergency Medical Technician, you will respond to emergency situations, assess and treat patients using advanced medical equipment and transport patients to medical facilities. You must be 21 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to relocate within the state of Connecticut. We are seeking qualified applicants who are comfortable working in an unsupervised environment and can make quick decisions when needed.

    Responsibilities:

    • Respond to emergency calls as directed by dispatcher.
    • Load and unload patients safely into and out of emergency vehicle.
    • Manage patient flow in and out of the emergency vehicle.
    • Communicate with medical staff, firefighters, and other EMTs to determine appropriate patient care in an emergency situation.
    • Load and unload medical equipment into and out of the emergency vehicle.
    • Administer basic life support to patients as directed by medical staff.
    • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and ethical conduct.
    • Learn new procedures in order to provide effective care for patients.
