  • Southwest Michigan First is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marketing & Communications Manager to join our dynamic team at Southwest Michigan First. As the Marketing & Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing initiatives to promote economic growth, attract investment, talent attraction and foster community development within our region. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker with a track record in marketing, branding, and communication strategies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans to support organizational goals and initiatives.
    • Create and manage marketing campaigns across various channels including digital, social media, print, and events.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to identify target audiences and develop tailored messaging and content.
    • Manage and create reports and storytelling delivery, both print and digitally, including but not limited to proposal responses, media reports, data reports, press releases, presentations, business letters, marketing materials, speeches, invitations, grants, videos, and more.
    • Manage the organization's brand identity and ensure consistency across all marketing materials and communications.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including businesses, investors, government agencies, community partners, vendors, and suppliers.
    • Oversee the organization's website and digital platforms, ensuring content is up-to-date and engaging.
    • Track and analyze marketing metrics and KPIs to measure effectiveness and optimize strategies.
    • Understand and manage event execution timelines, including supporting deliverables.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in marketing and economic development.
    • Demonstrate strong technical ability including but not limited to project management, Salesforce (customer relationship management), and Eventbrite.
    • Lead and manage marketing division, currently with a team of two.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing/communications
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful marketing strategies and campaigns.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience with digital marketing tools and platforms including social media, email marketing, and analytics.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
