    The Employee Relations Partner works directly with Senior Leaders, Operational Department Heads, Managers, and employees to provide advice and coach both parties on all employee relations issues. The role provides strong partnership supporting the disciplinary processes, investigations, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, etc. Responsibilities involve assessing and resolving complex employee relations matters ensuring consistency across the fleet and alignment with CCL policies, procedures, and practices. The role supports the COEs goal of delivering an equitable and consistent approach to employee relations issues, delivering a high level of service to our clients and promotes a positive culture across the organization. The role requires skill, tact, influence, judgment, and negotiation skills to accomplish objectives.

    Job Functions:

    • Uses best judgment to effectively manage the grievance Lifecyle from receipt to resolution, ensuring employees are consulted, updated, and informed of outcomes relating to any concerns or grievances raised.
    • Uses past knowledge and experience to review grievances, complaints, and concerns received via various communication channels including The Ethics and Compliance Team, Hotline, Shipboard HR mailboxes and communications sent directly to CCL Leaders and Operational Heads of Department. Works autonomously assigning cases as appropriate to the ER Investigations Team.
    • Produces highly detailed written responses and communications employees, Senior Leaders, VPs, Operational Directors, Managers and Shipboard Leaders as appropriate.
    • Produces highly detailed analytical reports, identifying trends at Dept. and fleet level. Analyzes data and makes recommendations to address business needs.
    • Manages the Ethics Point platform, maintains accurate documentation and updates cases in timely manner. Supports the HR Investigations Team when conducting investigations.
    • Partners with Shore-side & Shipboard Leaders, including VPs, Operational Heads of Department, Senior Officers, and other employees providing support and defining best practice to employee relations related issues, policy, and procedure.
    • Works autonomously using experience to review appeals from team members to return from a breach of contract (termination or suspension). Demonstrates good judgement in decision making relating to employee actions. Liaises with Team Members and Operational Dept. Heads and reviews documentation to investigate employee disputes. Presents complex cases to the ER Team and Operational Heads of Department as appropriate for discussion.
    • Communicates major humanitarian events to Shipboard Leaders as appropriate. Prepares any requests for financial assistance to be presented to the VP, Shipboard HR, ERM and Carnival’s Emergency Grant Committee.
    • Manages CCL Shipboard HRs employee benefits, including the Fun-Ship retirement program, employee loans and Officer benefits. Presents disputed cases to the Retirement Review Committee and processes applications.
    • Collects employment documentation as requested by our legal partners to be presented in cases of law. Creates and prepares drop boxes and file shares as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration/human resources required.
    • Work Experience: 5 years HR Experience with an emphasis conflict resolution and employee relations grievances required.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • HR experience with exposure to investigations, preferably gained within a matrix organization. Confidently works with minimum supervision.
    • Able to synthesize information, prioritize workload, influence others, identify areas of improvement, offer recommendations, and interpret policy and procedure credibly.
    • Highly detail oriented and able to work efficiently in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

    Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities. May need to stand for long periods of time.

    Travel: minimal or no travel

    Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

    The range for this role’s salary rate is $51,600-$82,000. Offers to the selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
