    JOB SUMMARY

    The position of Administrator requires an individual who is dependable, self-sufficient and can easily multi-task. Qualified Administrator candidates will direct the overall operation of the facility in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations while ensuring quality care is delivered.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Administrator is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the facility. The Administrator is responsible for developing and maintaining employee relations, ensuring the coordination of the delivery of quality care and services, understanding, and meeting financial guidelines for the home's operations, and promoting the facility's stature in the community at large. The Administrator will report to work ready for routine duties and emergencies and may include on-call duty up to 24 hours unless other qualified personnel are available and pre-assignment is made.


    Additional duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks: 

    • Direct and ensure the implementation of all written policies and procedures that reflect the goals and objectives of the facility and governing body.
    • Make routine rounds throughout the facility to assure from a first-hand observation that an optimum level of resident care is being provided; that the environment is being maintained in a safe and sanitary fashion, systems are in place, that employees are appropriately attired and receiving appropriate supervision.
    • Develops, establishes, and maintains resident census at optimal levels (100 percent or as near as possible) and maintaining a favorable resident mix as possible.
    • Prepare an annual operating budget for approval by Operations Director.
    • Achieve budgeted earning expectations.
    • Assure that adequate financial records and cost reports are submitted to appropriate departments or governmental agencies.
    • Oversee the recruitment, selection and training of competent department supervisors and other ancillary staff.
    • Meet standard staffing goals and ensure that state licensure and certification standards are met.
    • Oversee and ensure the timely annual evaluations of all employees and the management of timely, appropriate counsel and/or discipline of employees.
    • Meet with Departmental Supervisors on a weekly basis to review interdepartmental issues, expense control, labor control, and any other pertinent and/or environmental issues.
    • Institute effective admissions and collection practices to ensure current status in accounts receivable.
    • Represent the facility in dealings with outside agencies, including governmental agencies and third-party vendors, or provide an authorized representative of the facility when unable to attend such meetings.
    • Maintain an effective community relations program that services the best interest of the facility and community.
    • Establishes and/or maintain timely records and documentation appropriate to Medicaid/Title XIX/Medicare/other reimbursement programs. 
    • Ensure regular Quality Assurance compliance meetings are being held.
    • Review clinical policies and procedures for abuse prevention and communicate the employee’s responsibility to enforce it.
    • Ensure compliance of the Resident Bill of Rights.
    • Assures that nutritional needs of residents are met.
    • Assures the implementation of therapeutic, recreational, and rehabilitative programs to meet social and activity needs of residents.
    • Assures the provision of laundry, barber, beautician, and other services that contribute to quality resident care are available.
    • Authorize the purchase of major equipment or routine supplies as authorized and in accordance with purchasing policies and procedures.
    • Ability to function as a Team Leader/Role Model.
    • Ensures a working environment that promotes respect and dignity.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to communicate in English via phone, in writing and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, patient families, and any outside customers.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hand or fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to utilize a computer, phone, etc. for extended periods of time.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes, or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    Except where appropriate and conducive to accomplishing the goals and objectives of a particular task, the Administrator will work in a well-lighted area that is ventilated and as physically, physiologically, and psychologically innocuous as possible under the conditions which exist at a particular time. Because the essential functions of the job of Administrator require exposure to safety risks such as hot ovens, sharp knives, etc., and other situations associated with food preparation, cooking and involvement in a health care facility, including but not limited to exposure to AIDS, HIV and Hepatitis B viruses involving risk Classification Categories 2 and 3**, environment and safety conditions will fluctuate. To be qualified for the position of Administrator, a person will have the ability to work in this type of environment, with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to self or others.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
    • Current Missouri Nursing Home Administrator licensure.
    • Minimum five years of experience in healthcare in a senior management capacity.
    • Strong healthcare regulatory knowledge.
    • Fiscal and budgetary knowledge.
    • Ability to work with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
    • Proficient in the use of personal computer.
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

    CONTINUING EDUCATION

    • Attends in-service and educational programs.
    • Attends continuing education required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure if applicable.
