ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GENERAL COUNSEL
The general counsel will ensure Trust Women operates within the law, offer counsel on legal issues, including employment law, be an effective guardian of the organization and facilitate business strategies ensuring legal compliance with healthcare regulations and limiting risk exposure.
The General Counsel works under the general day-to-day administrative direction provided by the co-executive directors. The ideal candidate will provide legal advice to them and the organization’s Board of Directors on legal matters, working with the board to serve as legal adviser to the organization. The administrative direction provided by the co-executive directors shall not interfere with the General Counsel’s exercise of their independent legal judgment in providing legal advice and counsel to the organization. The general counsel may collaborate with board members by attending board meetings as appropriate.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with the legal accountabilities of mission-focused non-profit organizations in healthcare, including in a clinical setting. This person will possess creative problem-solving skills and the ability to assess various levels of risk and legal exposure. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using strategic judgment to help navigate tricky situations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The starting salary for this position is $130,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Trust Women also offers a generous benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off and sick leave.
