    Our Employment Specialist provides support for individuals with disabilities in a variety of community-based work settings, supporting the person towards independence in the work tasks and work environment, including development of natural supports, assist the person receiving services in identifying and communicating his or her requests and needs for services and supports.


    Duties:
    The Employment Specialist find employment for individuals with disabilities and provide employment training and support in various employment settings throughout the community. Utilize job coaching strategies to instruct participants on proper work habits and help create work skills that will produce high levels of quality and efficiency.     Services Areas: 

    Northeastern part of NC: Bertie, Tyrrell, Camden, South Mills, Emporia, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Gates, Dare, Currituck, Chowan


    Pay rate: $15-$20


    Job Type: Part-time


    Additional requirements of the Employment Specialist position include:

    • High School degree or GED required;
    • Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, preferred
    • Valid drivers’ license and automotive insurance
    • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
    • Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
    • Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
    • Required to regularly stand and walk.
    • Have 2 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities
    • Must have reliable transportation to serve participants in the program delivery area
    • Must have excellent written communication skills.
