    Job Summary

    CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Gas Service Technician Ito join our Texas Gas Team, located in Liberty, TX. The candidate will report out of the Beaumont office but will reside in the Liberty area.

    You will have the ability to: Perform company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, and maintenance of natural gas distribution facilities. Handle customer requests and represents the Company in the community.

    Essential Functions
    • Initiates gas service and performs leak investigations and repairs.
    • Locates gas lines.
    • Reads gas meters.
    • Conducts load surveys.
    • Completes work order in system for documentation.
    • Serves as First Responder in emergency situations.
    Education Description

    Requires a high school education or GED.

    Experience

    Requires no prior related work experience.

    Physical Requirements
    • Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
    • Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach, climb stairs and ladders, and crawl in confined spaces such as attics or crawl spaces.
    • Able to operate a motor vehicle and heavy equipment and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
    • Able to certify and use personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs on a daily basis.
    • Able to use a variety of hand tools and power tools including picks, shovels, sharp-shooters, pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, bolt cutters, pavement saws, jack hammers, air guns, etc.
    Working Conditions
    • Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
    • Able to handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasion.
    • Able to respond to emergency calls and/or callouts and occasionally return to work while off duty.
    • Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT safety sensitive positions.
    • Field environment may also involve being around livestock and/or captive animals.
    • Able to work indoors in an office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, equipment, and noise when at field installation sites.
    • Able to work regular hours, with occasional or mandatory overtime; may be required to work rotating shifts.
