  • DEFINITION: Analyzes, administers and maintains a comprehensive energy management program and ensures accountability for maintaining and improving upon the District's recommended energy savings goals in order to provide proper environmental conditions with cost effective energy utilization. Implements a behavior management program and incentives for all district constituents.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    TASKS:
    • Create and implement District energy saving policies, plans and programs and develop these strategies in accordance with Board policy and the Superintendent's guidelines to achieve a defined level of energy savings and utility cost reduction.
    • Create and align energy saving goals to the district's strategic plan and formulate budgetary savings.
    • Monitor fiscal savings, provide feedback via reports and presentations, and implement measures to increase savings throughout the year.
    • Provide training and information sessions to all district constituents, employees and community members on the importance of behavior modification to realize energy cost savings.
    • Arrange training and education opportunities for HVAC, Electrical and other District departments with regard to EMS procedures and objectives.
    • Analyze and monitor the Energy Management System (EMS) utility savings for the purposes of establishing the District's recommended energy savings goals; analyze, maintain and monitor the EMS software, maintain utility consumption records and computerized database for all District facilities.
    • Compile, review and analyze utility data and regularly disseminate utility saving reports and conservation strategies to administrators, employees, parents and the public.
    • Identify and coordinate future HVAC equipment needs for maintenance and replacement with the District's personnel to help create a proactive and empowered decision-making environment; recommend installation and commission of new HVAC equipment replacement to ensure operation is correct and designed to maintain District energy saving requirements.
    • Collaborate with energy related vendors to ensure appropriate performance of the contractual commitments to the District.
    • Manage and implement all District mandated parameters for EMS goals including system set points, schedules, alarms, etc.; schedule and monitor HVAC usage for District school and facility activities; create the recommended notification procedures process under the District's defined recommendations; create initiatives for identifying potential energy saving opportunities for District schools and facilities through improvements created through education, seminars, conferences, etc.
    • Manager of helpdesk tickets for HVAC and coordinates with Facilities/Maintenance
    • Addresses/manage/trouble shoots helpdesk tickets and requests from schools and district buildings to regulate/fix HVAC units.
    • Communicates and follows through with principals, directors and administration throughout the district.
    • Coordinates with outside vendor (Ex: Veregy) to address HVAC/Heating purchases and installation of units on an as needed basis.
    • Coordinates and manages software program (Ex: GOFMX) that guides the reservations of buildings for events during and including after hours and on weekends.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
    Knowledge of the spoken and written English language to all
    Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures
    Knowledge of HVAC and Heating
    Skill in following oral and written instructions
    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
    Skill in interpreting electrical and mechanical data
    Ability to work independently with good judgment and supervise staff
    Ability to analyze EMS software
    Ability to effectively communicate and validate goals, policies and guidelines
    Ability to effectively communicate electrical and mechanical data to technical and non-technical department personnel

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field AND two (2) years progressively responsible experience in facilities management, preferably in a school district; Or five (5) years of related experience within energy management, mechanical systems design, or closely related field.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited professional credential.
    Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.

    Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment

    Salary: PNT-260, Grade I Hours per Day: 8 Days in Contract: 260 Start Date: 2024/2025 School Year
