Energy Representative, Sr. is responsible for providing energy efficiency advice to customers. Develops, communicates, and monitors programs related to energy efficiency, sustainability, waste management, and environmental impact. Being an Energy Representative, Sr. develops and distributes educational material; evaluates and recommends alternatives to existing systems or processes. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Energy Representative, Sr. typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be an Energy Representative, Sr. typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Sr. Associate Project Manager- Renewable Energy Development (West Region)

  • The Senior Associate Project Manager (West Region Development) will support Project Managers in the development of multiple wind, solar and battery storage projects. 

    Your day to day responsibilities will include: 

    Project Management 

    • Coordinate the development of and tracking project budgets, timelines, and documentation. Present summaries to project team members. Coordinate project budgets and timelines by interfacing with subject matter experts. Track budget-to-actual and planned timeline-to-actual progress for the project(s).  
    • Inform the assessment of projects' viability throughout the project lifecycle using analytical tools and experience. *Specific to New Projects, this includes utilizing the Fatal Flaw Analysis matrix and the internal Prospector tool to identify and vet new project sites.  

    Contract Management 

    • Interface with and follow-up on day-to-day activities of all project contractors from inception to project closeout. 
    • Develop SOWs for contractors; coordinate with the contractors during the negotiation process; support the analysis of responses.  
    • Review and administer executed contracts, interact with counterparties, review invoices through the AP system. 

    Finance and Commercial Matters 

    • Lead in obtaining the inputs for the project budgets and financial models from subject matter experts and review with the project team.  Start to learn the ability to identify input flaws. 
    • Initiate and deliver analytical support for negotiations. Lead negotiations for select commercial matters. Develop tools to handle a range of negotiating situations. 
    • Review due diligence materials, identifying gaps such that additional documentation is obtained (SCE acquisition).  Coordinate obtaining any missing documents (SCE divestment) 

    Stakeholder relationships and Real Estate 

    • Learn to interface with landowners, community members, and community leaders to drive project and collective success. 
    • Provide analytical and field support to identify landowners, cultivate fruitful  relationships, negotiate site control agreements, identify and mitigate risk, and secure planning / use permits.  
    • Frequent travel to project sites (potential and in development) to assess opportunities and acquire valuable land rights.

    GIS 

    • Identify need for and complete analysis using mapping software, demonstrating mastery of the technology. Mentor and direct more junior staff in developing their mapping skills. QC the work of others.  

    Permitting (local, state, federal) Tax 

    • Analyze location-specific permitting and tax requirements to assess whether the project is feasible. Understand and identify risks associated with specific tax and permitting processes and suggest resolutions to obstacles. 
    • Assist in project permitting. Ensure all the permitting and tax documentation has been obtained to file project-specific applications. 
    • Coordinate the studies required to assess project viability and/or support the permitting, financing, and operation of the project. This includes, but is not limited to environmental (bird, bat) geotech, hydrology, cultural, airspace, resource monitoring, transmission capacity, congestion, public sentiment, competition, and title. Build out a competitive analysis and understand how other competitors can impact projects. 

    Engineering Design, Technology, Construction and Operation (Includes Interconnection, battery storage, solar, and wind) 

    • Provide information to the Development Engineering team to support the Interconnection process; monitor timelines and coordinate adherence.  
    • Gather information about site and system design alternatives by collaborating with other internal teams and conducting independent research as needed. 
    • Foundational understanding of the construction and operation of wind, solar and/or battery storage and different processes and technologies utilized 

    Internal (Team work) 

    • Leverage relationships with peers and more senior team members in other groups to drive project and collective success. 
    • Receive and provide productive feedback effectively and demonstrate ability to make changes based on feedback 
    • Identify and elevate potential issues or concerns to the appropriate more senior staff. Address an increasing range of issues independently.  
    • Identify and address gaps in knowledge needed to address core business issues and commonly encountered issues and concerns. Ensure your work has zero errors prior to sharing with team members. 
    • During project handoff, coordinate data and documentation management between the Development team and other internal and external parties. 

    Advance Scout 

    • Conduct analysis and solicit input needed from other teams to inform your group's strategy.  
    • Lead parts of projects that progress through Scout's Tier structure. 
    • Deliver on the goals you set annually with your manager.  
    • Embody and model Scout's mission and values in all interactions.  

     

    • A BS or BA from an accredited college program. 
    • Previous coursework or internship in the renewable energy industry is preferred. 
    • Self-motivator with exceptional communication skills. 
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties. 
    • Excitement and enthusiasm in learning how to become a Project Developer. 
    • Google Earth, Excel, PowerPoint, Word proficiency. 
    • Legally authorized to work in the United States. 
    • Willing and available to travel significantly as needed (40%-60%) depending on project stage
