    Job Summary

    The NH Family Resource Center (FRC) aims to provide high quality programming to serve youth & families who live in Seattle with activities promoting: Youth Development and Connections within Families and Communities. The Youth & Family Engagement Coordinator will report to the Family Connections Supervisor and be responsible for providing community education by planning and implementing educational activities and events that are aligned with the FRC’s goals. This position will also be responsible for publicizing FRC programs to recruit participants and clients while developing and/or maintaining relationships with partners, peer agencies, volunteers, community members and other stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide and maintain a welcoming and engaging atmosphere in the FRC.
    • Design and implement Youth and Family programs, events, and activities, in order to promote Youth development and Connections within families and communities.
    • Ensure programs are engaging and meaningful for high rate of return by our youth and community members.
    • Design and implement programming with youth and community members.
    • Provide and maintain a welcoming and engaging atmosphere in the FRC to promote returning clients and participants.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of local resources and opportunities to share accurate and current information with community members.
    • Conduct strategic outreach and recruitment of youth and families to increase attendance and engagement.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with community service providers, government funders, and housing authorities.
    • Develop and maintain consistent connections with program partners and volunteers by offering quality support.
    • Provide translation and interpretation services for designated language as needed.
    • Assist in developing promotional materials to reach targeted community members with diverse languages and literacy abilities.
    • Assist in day-to-day scheduling of activities and monthly calendar.
    • Participate in outcome data collection and tracking in a consistent and timely manner.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • At least 2 years’ experience working in social work or human services.
    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a culturally diverse workplace dedicated to equity and inclusion.
    • Neighborhood House is on a journey to become a fully inclusive, multicultural, anti-racist organization. Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to advancing racial equity and social justice.
    • Experience in facilitating adult or youth group workshops.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Language skills sufficiently strong to prepare documents in English.
    • Bilingual preferable in Somali, Oromo, or Spanish; Ability to translate English documents to primary language in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Professional experience working with multicultural youth, families, and diverse cultures.
    • Ability to work with limited supervision and considerable self-direction.
    • Demonstrated ability to support and work effectively with families.
    • Demonstrate experience or ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multilingual environment with co-workers, clients, and partners.
    • Willingness to comply with the established agency performance standards which may include productivity/personal responsibility, customer service-orientation, embracing a team player orientation, entrepreneurial, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
    • Must have reliable, independent transportation for travel in King County.
    • This is a fully onsite in-person position. High Point Center is the primary location for this position but this position may require working from other sites within Seattle City limits as needed.
    • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including some weekends or evenings, as needed.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Desired Qualifications

    • AA Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education or a healthcare-related field.

     

    Required Credentials

    • Must pass Neighborhood House background check requirements.
    • Position requires Washington State bi-annual criminal background re-check.

     

    Post-Hire on-the-job Training Requirements

    • Current First Aid Certificate within 30 days of hire.
    • Current CPR Certificate within 30 days of hire.
    • Sexual Harassment Training within 30 days of hire.
    • Child Abuse and Neglect training (within 2 weeks of hire).
