Job Description:
The purpose of the CHART Communications and Engagement Coordinator is to contribute a range of written, graphic and spoken products to get CHART’s strategic message across in creative and effective ways. This position will work in areas of training and advocacy, community partnerships, and strategic planning. The CHART C&E Coordinator will support the work of the Director and work in organizing and launching new initiatives as well as propelling long term campaigns to elevate voices in our community and partner agencies that advance our goals toward impact, equity, and inclusion. The CHART C&E Coordinator should be dedicated to providing absolute respect and unconditional love by advocating, listening, learning and serving.
Duties and responsibilities

Inspire using demonstrated experience in storytelling and influencing.

Develop communications and engagement approaches and build C&E capability across the organization

Create messaging around strategic goals

Write organizational material about CHNJ programs to reach a variety of stakeholder audiences

Design powerpoints, handouts, and digital communications to engage and support community partner organizations, including hospital, law enforcement, and government groups.

Support website redesign and lead efforts to contribute fresh, engaging, and inspiring material to our website and social media presence

Infuse all messaging with inclusive language that reaches our client population, staff, partners, and communities with greatest impact.

Ghost write social media copy and other written communications, which may include emails, speeches and newsletters.

Assist with the growth, development and expansion of the kNOT; to build a directory of partners, communicate bed availability and turn community partners who know youth that are facing homelessness from referral sources to a functioning member of the Neighborhood Outreach Team.

Deliver and develop training and coaching models for internal and external use.

Work collaboratively inter-departmentally and through-out all sites to communicate CHART initiatives and elevate stakeholders voices in process changes.

Support CHART leadership on strategic initiatives and lend assistance in aspects of their special projects.

Collaborate and lead on process improvement efforts agency wide

Support agency by leading training initiatives related to program transformations.

Assists with fundraising activities and special events which may be conducted outside the employee’s normal work schedule

Required to check company email daily.

Educate, inform and engage various audiences through digital and traditional communications, including storytelling, online resources, podcasts, videos and more.

Develop visual concepts and designing marketing and presentation materials that effectively communicate with internal and external audiences.
- Position is available for remote and hybrid workers. The on-site workplace is a homeless shelter and work may involve outdoor activities.
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in communications or public relations from an accredited college or university-
2 Years’ experience working in the field of Social Services and/ or communications.

Committed to working with young people who have experienced great hardship, including homelessness

Flexible, dynamic, creative problem solver.

Excellent writing skills and strong editorial sensibility, capable of prioritizing and distilling information to achieve maximum impact with messaging

Strong ability to partner with staff and volunteers throughout the Covenant House organization

Valid NJ driver’s license with an insurable driving record
