Engineering Director plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects within an organization. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives. Being an Engineering Director utilizes best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. Additionally, Engineering Director manages overall engineering budget and costs. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Typically reports to top management. The Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Director leads teams of software engineers working on different projects. They provide leadership, direction, and management to the managers of these teams. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, setting project priorities, and ensuring the timely and efficient completion of software engineering work. The candidate must have a proven track record in successfully leading and delivering teams building commercial software. The candidate must be able to influence and work with both senior management and groups of engineering managers. A skill for motivating and delivering high quality SaaS solutions in an agile development methodology must be proven. The candidate will be responsible for leading a group of teams that work on cloud-based and/or on-premise applications. Ability to communicate and interface with customers and partners is expected. Knowledge and ability to break down to apply industry standards will be required.
