Env., Health, and Safety Engineer implements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineer is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineer serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.   • Summary of Position:

    This position is responsible for implementing field wide health and safety management and performance improvement plans.  They will also be working with the corporate safety team on implementation and execution of strategic initiatives aimed at injury prevention, risk management, management of change and general safety performance improvement. This position will be responsible for managing site safety specialists and consultants. 


    Primary Job Responsibilities:

     

    • Implements safety programs and training in coordination and cooperation with Management and the Corporate Environmental, Health, Safety and Regulatory (EHSR) Group.
    • Leads the behavior-based safety observation program.
    • Ensures that all injury and spills incidents are reported, entered into the database and appropriate corrective actions are identified and completed in order to prevent incident recurrence.
    • Conducts trending analysis and works on development of targeted safety programs and policies.
    • Leads incident investigations and causal factor analysis on high severity incidents.
    • Develops periodic reports on safety performance and initiatives. 
    • Conducts compliance review activities with Corporate EHSR Group, and periodically assists as a team member in cross-area cross functional audits.
    • Conducts training on various health and safety programs as needed.  
    • Provides field health and safety support to operations for high-risk activities such as SIMOPS, hot work, lockout/tagout, and other life critical operational tasks.
    • Leads field industrial hygiene and occupational health management program.
    • Implements new programs, policies and procedures to employees and contractors in a consistent manner.
    • Follows safe operating practices and ensures compliance with the Company’s Safety & Regulatory requirements.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

     

    • In-depth knowledge of industry safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
    • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to lead cross-functional teams.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    • Supervise and lead a team of health and safety professionals, such as safety coordinators, specialists, or advisors and contractors, to ensure effective and consistent implementation of safety programs and practices.
    • Take the lead in developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs, policies, and procedures. These programs should align with O&G industry standards and relevant regulations.
    • Coordinate and supervise safety training programs to educate employees, contractors, and visitors on safety protocols, procedures, and best practices. This includes overseeing the training of new employees and ongoing refresher courses.
    • Supervise the health and safety department's budget, allocating resources for training, equipment, and safety initiatives.

     

    Education & Experience:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Health and Safety field with a minimum 5 years of oil and gas industry experience
    • Professional certification (CSP, CIH, ASP) preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience 
    • Documented experience developing and implementing EHS management system processes and procedures
    • Experience delivering training and development programs and performing competency assessments 
    • Experience facilitating and leading incident investigations 
    • Familiarity with commonly used industry software systems such as Taproot, Intelex, Stature, Peloton, GIS, along with basic office software system in the Microsoft Suite
    • Clean motor vehicle record and ability to operate a company provided vehicle


    Travel Requirements:

    • Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
    • Schedule: traditional 40-hour work week or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
    • Travel required to the Civitas field locations.
