Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager directs preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to environmental, health, and safety engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position Summary
    The Department of Facilities and Construction Management at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Environmental Health and Safety Manager position.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Required Education
    Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field is required.

    Minimum Required Experience
    Applicant must have three (3) to five (5) years of directly related experience.

    Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications
    Must hold a valid MS Driver’s License.

    Qualifications
    Professional certification in related fields is preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Demonstrated ability to lead a team in emergency preparedness, business continuity, and resiliency programs.
    • Demonstrated ability in the development and facilitation of effective training programs in emergency preparedness, business continuity, and other related activities to build cohesive communication for students and staff in preparation for emergency situations.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with local, state, and emergency services providers and federal agencies such as MEMA, FEMA, as well as with counterparts at other universities.
    • Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively.
    • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability with public speaking and conducting s presentations.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities
    The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will oversee organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
