• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred; On-The-Job Training provided
• Completion of Security Training program or equivalent preferred.

• Valid California Driver's License Class C in order to drive hospital/facility vehicles or on hospital business.

• Experience working in behavioral health preferred.
• Previous experience in enviornmental services (hospital/hotel industry) preferred.
• Two (2) years in a hospital enviornment preferred.

• Basic knowledge of H.V.A.C. equipment, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment and plant operations preferred;
• Familiar use of hand and power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments;
• Must be able to interact positively with patients and visitors on a daily basis whose behavior may be difficult, uncooperative or aggressive.
• Demonstrates safe and efficient use of the following equipment: Telephone system, two-way radios, power/hand tools, safety equipment, gloves, and eye protection.
• Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures;
• Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads an work assignments on a constant basis;
• The ability to function in a caring and empathetic manner with clients and their families.
• Diplomacy and tact is required in all interactions including dealing with members of the Medical and Hospital staff, patients and visitors;
• Must be able to perform assignments with minimal supervision;
• Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions;
• Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads an work assignments on a constant basis;
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License in order to drive hospital vehicles or on hospital business.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITON:

• Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills specific to job (i.e. van/driver’s training, etc.) and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training, and annually thereafter.
• Must complete all required mandatory inservices annually.
• Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire; PPD skin test required annually or chest x-ray tri-annually thereafter.
• Must be certified in Handle With Care training within the first three (3) months of hire and annually thereafter if assigned to Security or Transportation duties.
