As our new Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Technician, you will perform duties for the Institute to ensure the health and safety of the students, faculty, staff, visitors, contractors, the environment, and our community. As a part of these efforts, you will work with faculty and staff to coordinate the proper handling, disposal, and management of regulated waste as well as observe and report on potential risk involving campus activity and properties, providing resolution to necessary personnel aligning with campus policies, and local, state, and federal regulations. As our EH&S Technician, you will conduct workplace safety evaluations for existing or potential safety and environmental hazards, implementing corrective action based on these findings, respond to fire alarms and environmental emergencies; provide guidance during these situations to ensure that proper notification is made to required staff and authorities based on the Emergency Response Plan and provide a cleanup response during a chemical spill/release. You will also perform training to necessary personnel to bring awareness of potential hazards and policies and procedures to mitigate risk as well as maintain proper documentation regarding all facets of environmental health & safety policies and procedures, including documentation pertaining to federal, state, and local authorities.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have an Associate degree or vocational or technical school degree; in safety, chemistry, biology, environmental health & safety, emergency management, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field. Three years of related experience. In lieu of higher education degree, a high school diploma and five or more years of experience in a related field will be accepted. Higher-level degrees in relatable fields may be considered in lieu of years of experience.
