Env., Health, and Safety Generalist Manager designs, develops, implements and oversees the organization's environmental, health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities. Administers policies and procedures that cover two or more functional areas in the environmental, health and safety job family. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Generalist Manager ensures employees in functional areas follow established procedures and comply with federal, state and local regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Generalist Manager typically reports to a unit/department head. The Env., Health, and Safety Generalist Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. This leader has operational accountability and oversight, and manages the daily activities of the Public Safety & Emergency Management, as well as, security technology within the Public Safety department, and will serve as the Director's designee during the director's absence. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring team work tasks, projects, and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of departmental and organizational goals.
- Require a Bachelor’s degree. An Associate’s degree and two (2) years of relevant security/military supervisory experience or High School diploma and four (4) years of relevant hospital security/military supervisory experience will substitute for the required Bachelor’s degree.
- Require a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in hospital security, military, law enforcement or related field.
- Require current/active IAHSS Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification and continuously maintain certification thereafter.
- Require current/active IAHSS Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (CAHSO) certification and continuously maintain certification thereafter.
- Require current/active IAHSS Certified Security Supervisor (CHSS) certification and continuously maintain certification thereafter.
- Requires Instructor certification in a minimum of two (additional certifications preferred) of the following disciplines: - BCLS, CPR / AED. - De-Escalation / Personal Safety Awareness. - Florida K License Firearms Instructor. - NRA Certified Firearms Instructor. - Florida DI Security Officer Instructor. - First Receiver Chemical Decontamination Instructor. - First Receiver Biologic Decontamination Instructor. - Taser Certification Instructor. - Force on Force (SIM House) Instructor. - Florida Defensive Tactics Instructor. - OC Pepper Certification Instructor. - Collapsible Baton Certification Instructor. - APCO Certified Communications Trainer. - APCO Certified Communications Instructor.
- Require International Board for Certification of Safety Managers, Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) certification within four (4) months, and continuously maintain certification thereafter.
- Require International Hospital Safety and Security Certification - Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator with in first twelve (12) months.
- Require Taser Certification.
- Prefer previous management level experience.
- Prefer the ability to participate in public speaking and a variety of leadership level meetings.
- Prefer the ability to direct others with confidence and professionalism in stressful situations.
- Prefer competency with use of computers.
- Prefer the ability to perform duties independently and exercise independent judgment.
- Prefer designation as a Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP).
- Prefer previous experience as an instructor and/or trainer.
- Prefer previous experience in criminal investigations and interviews.
- Prefer knowledge of Joint Commission Standards related to Security/Safety/Emergency Management.
- Prefer previous participation in a Joint Commission survey as a key member of the Security/Safety/Emergency Management team.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge/experience in Emergency Management related to the “All Hazards” approach.
- Prefer demonstrated exceptional verbal and written skills.
CDSL: Class 'D' Security License
CGSL: Class 'G' Armed Security Lic
FDL: Valid Driver's License
