Environmental Compliance Specialist, Sr. conducts required environmental tests, analysis and observations. Evaluates results and makes recommendations as necessary for maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies. Being an Environmental Compliance Specialist, Sr. requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Additionally, Environmental Compliance Specialist, Sr. relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May direct and lead the work of others. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Supplier Compliance Specialist

  • Position overview

    • Assist DFSR with supplier Food Safety document compliance.
    • Assist with adherence to Brand Reputation through Compliance (BRCGS) Standard.
    • Assist with customer documentation requests.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate with Procurement to achieve full compliance with suppliers and report on program progress.
    • Perform on-site supplier audits of high-risk suppliers.
    • Assist in assessing risk and categorizing suppliers.
    • Assist with onboarding of new suppliers and vetting of new raw materials.
    • Liaise with sales on fulfilling customer Quality Assurance and Technical requirements and needs.
    • Issue Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR) for supplier for raw material quality issues.
    • Maintain Supplier Approval Program using web-based document repository.
    • Assist with New Product Development by helping to review new artwork.
    • Assure federal compliance of finished product packaging and labeling.
    • Assist with studies to validate processes and product quality.
    • Learn to use any technical equipment or required software programs relevant to job requirements.
    • Assist in weekly Food Safety walkthroughs of the plant.

     

    Working relations:

    Works closely with Supply Chain and R&D departments. Collaborate with all departments to ensure suppliers maintain compliance and customers receive required documentation.


    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Or a combination of work experience and education which proves proficiency in the field.
    • Internal Auditing Certification required.
    • Risk Assessment certification or verifiable training preferred.
    • Experience auditing external suppliers, highly preferred.
    • Intermediate computer skills, including significant knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and writing spreadsheet formulas.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to make quick educated decisions regarding product quality.


    Physical characteristics:

    Must be able to stand, walk, sit for extended periods. Some bending or stooping may be necessary, at times. Exposure to cold and wet environments for extended periods is required. Must be able to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
