Being an Environmental Engineer performs experiments and reports findings on environmental consequences of equipment, tools, and procedures. Ensures the organization's conformance to federal, state, and local environmental legislation. Additionally, Environmental Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be an Environmental Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Job Location: Canyon Fuel Company
Overall Job Purpose:
Canyon Fuel Company, LLC, a subsidiary of Wolverine Fuels, operates two underground coal mines in central Utah and has an immediate opening for a full-time Environmental Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain environmental permits with regulatory agencies (BLM, USFS, DOGM)
- Monitor mining operation to assure compliance that all environmental regulatory permits
- Accompany agency personnel during environmental inspections
- Plan and manage projects associated with environmental compliance
Preferred Education & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining/Civil/Environmental), Environmental Science, or equivalent experience
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Strong communication (listening, verbal, written) and interpersonal skills
- General understanding of engineering principles (material science, water/waste-water, soil/rock mechanics, hydraulics/pump networks, economics)
- Excellent computer skills (AutoCAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering License (PE)
- Experience in underground continuous and longwall mining methods
- Experience in regulatory (MSHA, BLM, USFS and/or DOGM) permitting and compliance
- Experience in project management
