Ensures the organization's conformance to federal, state, and local environmental legislation. Additionally, Environmental Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be an Environmental Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Overall Job Purpose:

    Canyon Fuel Company, LLC, a subsidiary of Wolverine Fuels, operates two underground coal mines in central Utah and has an immediate opening for a full-time Environmental Engineer.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Maintain environmental permits with regulatory agencies (BLM, USFS, DOGM)
    • Monitor mining operation to assure compliance that all environmental regulatory permits
    • Accompany agency personnel during environmental inspections
    • Plan and manage projects associated with environmental compliance

    Preferred Education & Experience:

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining/Civil/Environmental), Environmental Science, or equivalent experience
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills
    • Strong communication (listening, verbal, written) and interpersonal skills
    • General understanding of engineering principles (material science, water/waste-water, soil/rock mechanics, hydraulics/pump networks, economics)
    • Excellent computer skills (AutoCAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering License (PE)
    • Experience in underground continuous and longwall mining methods
    • Experience in regulatory (MSHA, BLM, USFS and/or DOGM) permitting and compliance
    • Experience in project management

    Position reports to: Engineering Manager
