Environmental Engineering Technician conducts analysis of soil, groundwater, or atmospheric samples to determine if pollutants are present and implements appropriate corrective action if necessary. Job Summary
Inspect and maintain equipment, control and manage hazardous waste, collect samples, manage waste operations, and assist with regulatory compliance and other duties as needed. Material removed may include produced due to oil spill, asbestos found in pipe lagging, ceilings and floors, lead-base paint, NORM or other hazardous material.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. and more frequent lifting of up to 20 lbs.
· Requires long periods of standing and /or working in the standing position.
· Manual labor requiring the use of hand tool such as, but not limited to, hammers, sledges hammers, pry bars, grinders, drills, etc.
· Requires the use of various equipment such as, but not limited to, pressure washers, small boats, trucks, forklifts, aerial booms, generators, ect.
· Removes or encapsulates hazardous materials in accordance with applicable state and
· federal regulations.
· Uses high efficiency particulate matter vacuum system to clean areas where asbestos
dust and fibers are present.
· Able to learn and/or operate small craft to recover waterborne oil and/or petroleum produce.
· Able to learn and/or operate a motor vehicle while towing a trailer.
· Cleans and maintains equipment.
Experience Required:

· Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
Duties:
- Perform environmental cleanup and restoration tasks
- Use power tools and hand tools to build and construct structures
- Conduct asbestos abatement and removal procedures
- Clean carpets and other surfaces as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in environmental cleanup or related field preferred
- Familiarity with power tools and hand tools
- Knowledge of asbestos abatement procedures and safety protocols
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
