Environmental, Health and Safety Director oversees organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. Being an Environmental, Health and Safety Director ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Environmental, Health and Safety Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Environmental, Health and Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Director of Environmental Services (EVS) will have full oversight of the UF Health Shands environmental services operation, ensuring high-quality and professionally managed services. This position will develop strategic plans and policies for the department in alignment with the organization's mission and key performance indicators, direct business operations, negotiate contracts, prepare and administer annual budgets, and manage financial performance for the department. This role provides leadership and direction to EVS management and staff, ensuring continuous quality initiatives and a high level of cleanliness for patients, visitors and staff. Additionally, the director implements strategies to enhance employee engagement and manages programs designed to foster team-building and retention. Coverage for managers and supervisors is provided by the director to ensure sufficient staffing for EVS operations. The director is responsible for ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission and federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes pertaining to waste management, labor and operations of environmental services.
