We are looking for a Planner or Permitting Specialist to join our Natural Resources team to work on land use approvals including special use/conditional use permits, rezoning, Comprehensive Plan amendments, and state siting board approvals. Candidates should be familiar with the review of Comprehensive Plans, Land Development Codes, Codes of Ordinances and state statutes to assess the required approvals for proposed developments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Review Comprehensive Plans for compatibility issues-
Review Land Development Codes for consistency issues

Review Codes of Ordinances to identify pertinent challenges to development

Adept at finding and reviewing zoning maps and Future Land Use Map

Assist with preparing applications and supporting documentation for submittal to local and/or state jurisdictions

Assist with proposal preparation

Technical report writing with excellent computer skills
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (urban planning, geography or similar) and one to three years of planning experience-
Previous consulting experience preferred

Renewable energy (solar) approval experience desired

Familiarity with construction plans review is also a plus
Job Requirements:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record-
Exceptional verbal and technical writing skills

Occasional travel to attend agency meetings, client meetings, and conferences

Standard work week: M-F/8:00 – 5:00

Hybrid position that requires 2-3 days in-office as needed
