Equipment Engineer designs, develops, evaluates, and deploys manufacturing equipment, devices, and systems. Develops electrical control devices to convey materials and products throughout the manufacturing process. Being a Equipment Engineer integrates devices and instruments into the systems that measure and control environmental or material variations occurring during the manufacturing process. Ensures equipment and processes maintain throughput, yield, safety, and reliability objectives. Additionally, Equipment Engineer maintains an up-to-date knowledge of equipment vendors' changes, upgrades, and innovations. Prepares preventive maintenance plans and procedures for all equipment and provides technical support during maintenance or turnaround processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Equipment Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     JOB SUMMARY:

    Operators are responsible for effectively and safely operating and performing daily maintenance on heavy equipment. This may include (but is not limited to) cranes, bucket trucks, diggers, trenchers, skid steers, and wire pullers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Learn and follow safety regulations.
    • Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
    • Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work.
    • Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
    • Adjust handwheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.
    • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
    • Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment — Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or water craft.
    • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material — Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
    • Getting Information — Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
    • Controlling Machines and Processes — Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
    • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings — Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
    • Position construction or extraction equipment.
    • Locate equipment or materials in need of repair or replacement.
    • Monitor construction operations.
    • Operate heavy-duty construction or installation equipment.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, or snow.
    • Job may require operation of equipment in all elements without climate control.
    • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities. (Porta-Johns).
    • Job requires employee to have required hand tools with them at all times while at work site. (Waist toolbelts can weigh up to 40 lbs.)
    • Must wear personnel protective equipment at all times. (i.e. Hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required).

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – (THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONS):

    • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
    • Ability to lift, by one’s self, work- loads of up to 50 lbs.
    • Possess good vision / hearing. (Normal or corrected).
    • Ability to work while constantly moving on one's feet.
    • Control Precision — The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
    • Depth Perception — The ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
    • Multilimbed Coordination — The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
    • Near Vision — The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
    • Far Vision — The ability to see details at a distance.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    High School diploma or GED

    PREFERRED SKILLS:

    • Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
    • Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
    • Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
    • Coordination — Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
    • Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

    LICENSES:

    • Valid Driver License
    • CDL Class A preferred
