CNC Operator Job Description
CNC Operator sets up and maintains equipment. Ensure systems run smoothly with little input from anyone else on site. CNC Operator must have an eye for detail and strong working knowledge of their machines’ capabilities. Operator handles the computer numerical control machine. Maintaining, setting, and adjusting the machine are all part of the operator's daily tasks. This includes knowledge of the software and hardware of the machine.
Responsibilities:
- Strong math skills for inputting specific dimensions and figures into the CNC machinery
- Ability to analyze the information provided on blueprints
- Strong computer skills as CNC Operators use computer software to control machinery
- Understanding of how the machine works to maintain the machinery for which they are responsible and ensure it functions properly.
- Problem-solving skills to detect issues in the creation process and find solutions to ensure the machinery creates the product provided in the draft
- Operate overhead cranes & other equipment as directed / required
- Safely loading and unloading raw materials and setting up any equipment or accessories needed during production
- Ability to read and use measuring equipment such as but not limited to calipers, tape measures, etc.
- Hand tools will be utilized such as grinders, and deburring tools, etc.
- Calibrate all necessary items according to manufacturer guidelines to run smoothly
- Preparing and operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling etc.
- Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
The starting hourly rate is $______ but is commensurate with experience. Evaluations will be performed at ninety (90) days, six (6) months, and one (1) year from the date of hire with the potential for pay increases at each evaluation. The standard per hour pay increase after a satisfactory evaluation is $0.75 at 90 days, $0.75 at six months, and $0.50 at one year. There is also potential for merit increases.

Education:
- Must have a high school diploma or a GED at a minimum.
