Estate Planning Director directs all aspects of the estate planning function including sales, staffing, and supervision. Participates in training and estate planning workshops. Additionally, Estate Planning Director introduces new life products to the field and contributes to design of related software and tools. May be a speaker at insurance conferences or meetings. Requires a bachelor's degree of business, marketing, or mathematics. Typically reports to top management. May require Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). The Estate Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Director of Operations, Multifamily Real Estate

  • WPM is in search of a qualified candidate to fill the role of our Director of Operations for our Multifamily division. In this role, you will also serve as a Regional Property Manager for a small portfolio. As the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for supporting the President of MRE in oversight, management and growth of the division. You will need to be a change agent, energized by the daily challenges that could be presented as a critical part of a growing firm. In your role as a Regional Property Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to be on the front lines and behind the scenes in the multifamily real estate industry.

    Essential Functions:

    Director of Operations

    • Serves as a positive advocate of change and growth and effectively communicates initiatives deemed as important to the organization to gain buy-in of the Associates
    • Supports successful, lasting client relationships
    • Assists in creating an annual divisional plan with high level divisional business objectives and cascading objectives for each team member
    • Assists in the oversight of MRE management operations, ensuring profitability, superior customer service and workforce engagement and retention
    • Ensures annual budgeting process for all properties is completed timely and accurately
    • Participates in the training and development of Managers to raise the standards particularly relating to financial acumen and budgeting skills
    • Coordinates actively with Accounting, IT, Marketing and Human Resources responsible for MRE
    • Collaborates with President and Business Development Team to leverage professional contacts to identify new business opportunities
    • Participates in Community relationship activities to drive new business opportunities
    • Identifies areas of efficiency, while ensuring that the division is up to date on federal, state and local regulations
    • Audits policies and procedures on an ongoing basis and collaborates with various departments along with the RPM Team to implement new policies and refresh current policies as the need arises
    • Collaborates with Training and HR to maintain a centralized location for policies and procedures that is easily accessible for Associates
    • Oversees compliance with policies and procedures in collaboration with the various departments within MRE
    • Assists in supervisory duties for RPMs to include teaching, coaching, and providing performance feedback (specific, positive/constructive)
    • Provides an example for Regional Property Managers of optimum ways to manage positive and effective investor relationships
    • Collaborates with VP of Marketing and the Marketing Team to promote and drive rental activity at the MRE property level
    • Advises Human Resources regularly of human capital needs
    • Works closely with vendors in ensuring that Multifamily managed properties receive value and service for contracted work
    • Maintains an emerging leadership presence within industry groups (MMHA, IREM, etc.) that support the Company’s professional standing
    • Evaluates investment opportunities for viability and participates in business development activities to include proforma budgeting and pre-development consulting
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Regional Property Manager

    • Directs and coordinates all activities of the properties in his/her portfolio to ensure client’s financial and business objectives are achieved
    • Oversees implementation of comprehensive programs, initiatives and strategies that promote the achievement of optimum performance by the properties within his/her portfolio
    • Oversees the work of Senior Property Managers and/or Property Managers who supervise on-site personnel for the properties within his/her portfolio
    • Responsible for developing budgets, monitoring actual performance against budget, and providing information to clients regarding the performance of the properties within his/her portfolio
    • Maintains excellent relationships through responsive communication with residents to optimize their confidence in the community as a clean, safe and well-maintained community
    • Maintains professional relationships with clients, associates, applicants, visitors and representatives of other companies
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience:  

    • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
    • Five (5) years of experience in a management role with at least three (3) years in a senior management or leadership role demonstrating sound management judgment and discretion in professional real estate settings
    • Certified Property Manager (CPM) or CPM Candidate designation by Institute of Real Estate Management, or Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by CCIM Institute preferred
    • Familiarity with industry management accounting systems desired
