Estate Planning Director directs all aspects of the estate planning function including sales, staffing, and supervision. Participates in training and estate planning workshops. Being an Estate Planning Director ensures that the agency stays abreast of regulatory guidelines and new trends in the field. Researches and advises on tax, technical, and legal questions. Additionally, Estate Planning Director introduces new life products to the field and contributes to design of related software and tools. May be a speaker at insurance conferences or meetings. Requires a bachelor's degree of business, marketing, or mathematics. Typically reports to top management. May require Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). The Estate Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. To support our legal team by assisting in the preparation and management of estate planning documents and trust administration processes. This role involves direct client interaction for data collection, document drafting, and ensuring the efficient organization and management of estate planning documents.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
· Assist in collecting data regarding clients' assets, including savings accounts, investments, and real estate holdings.
· Draft estate plan documents, including wills, living trusts, health care directives, powers of attorney, and more using Estate Guru software.
· Assist in the amendment and modification of existing documents and the funding of trusts.
· Provide support in trust administration, including the preparation of allocation schedules, distribution plans, and managing trust administration files.
· Work closely with the Senior Paralegal to manage files, workflow, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
· Utilize various software programs including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and Adobe, for document management and administration.
· Engage in estate tax research and planning, to assist in estate administration processes.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
· B.A. or B.S. degree
· Strong analytical skills
· Ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
· Effective time management skills. Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to identify, meet, and follow through with client needs and requirements with keen attention to detail.
· Must be self-motivated with a good work ethic, and have demonstrated the discipline to work independently
· Ability to excel in a competitive, team-oriented environment
· Advanced verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
·Proficiency in Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PDF programs, with the ability to perform advanced tasks such as editing, formatting, and file management.
· Problem solving skills, resourceful and effective in making decisions
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· Previous experience with case management software is a plus.
· A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
· Must be able to initially work 15-20 hours per week in our Norwalk, CT office for training.
