LAPOINT PACKAGING at PackGen is looking for a dynamic SOURCING SPECIALIST/JOB ESTIMATOR/COST ANALYST with strong financial and analytical skills. We are a small, lean organization, with a large presence in the bulk packaging world. The ideal candidate will have experience in determining key variables for cost and estimating, strong negotiating prowess, exceptional organizational habits, great communication abilities, and killer Excel knowledge.

Job details

The Sourcing Specialist/Job Estimator/Cost Analyst manages the procurement process and estimating for assigned categories of spend and deliverables. The position is responsible for reviewing orders, working with outside vendors and internal departments; examining price, suitability, and availability of items or services while comparing specifications, and reviewing alternatives to fulfill value-add goals or other objectives. This position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals under minimal supervision.

Duties Include, but are not limited to:

Purchase Order Placing & Tracking

• Source, evaluate and purchase raw materials, services, and equipment
• Prepare cost analysis and comparisons for review as needed for purchasing
• Negotiate to ensure non-contracted items are procured from the most cost-effective source

Vendor Relations & Customer Support

• Source and evaluate potential vendors regarding services and capabilities
• Serve as a liaison between sales team and vendors
• Work with vendors for resolving service-related issues

Research and Analysis

• Research requests to ensure both product and import/export compliance
• Research raw material prices and sources, being mindful of changing global economy
• Organize, update and research customer history files and records to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of data, and provide reporting as requested
• Analyze vendors/services to determine which relationships provide optimal total delivered value including cost and performance

Proposals/Contracts

• Prepare cost analysis for RFQ/RFPs and review with executive management
• Prepare written quotation/proposal requests for sales team and consult with Production Manager to provide lead times of requested items
• Analyze contracts and make recommendations

Requirements:

• 8 years of relevant work experience in accounting, purchasing and/or estimating
• Proven track record of developing, executing and scaling high impact pricing & strategies
• Ability to work autonomously, focusing on key outcomes amidst competing priorities and tight deadlines
• Strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing input from multiple stakeholders and projects.
• Detail oriented
• Very strong Excel proficiency
• Strong computer and organization skills
• Flexible and willing to take on special projects
• Financial and analytical skills
• International trade/shipping experience preferred
