Estimator - Cost develops cost estimates for projects based on work scope, specifications, and contract proposals using applicable estimating methodologies and tools. Analyzes project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements. Being a Estimator - Cost uses benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations. Depending on the complexity and type of project, may use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates. Additionally, Estimator - Cost provides guidance and training on estimating best practices. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.     We are currently seeking a Senior Level Cost Estimator to support our transit projects across the country. Some of the duties will include:

     

    • Prepare detailed cost estimates at the preliminary, intermediate, final, and release-for-construction stages of design.
    • Review estimates prepared by consultants and contractors.
    • Prepare cost estimates for analyzing value engineering studies.
    • Assist in constructability reviews.
    • Support negotiations for settling contract change modifications and potential claims.

     

    Qualifications include:

     

    - Bachelor ‘s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
    - 10 or more years of estimating experience
    - Diversified experience in transportation projects with emphasis on rail, highway and aviation
    - Transit agency owner costs experience preferred
    - Experience with estimating software (HCSS Heavybid preferred)
    - Professional Certifications preferred

     

    The salary range for this position is between $155k -185K per annum, based on experience and qualifications.

    This position offers the flexibility of working remote or out of one of offices in Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Boston, or Kansas City.

    The salary range for this position is between $150k and $180K per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
