Estimator - Materials jobs in Massachusetts

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to read & interpret building plans.
• Review building plans from owner, contractor, or salesperson from rough sketches to detailed construction drawings including material specifications.
• Determine the correct materials, quantities and verify compliance to specifications.
• Prepare proposals with a complete list of materials – including SKU’s, pricing & quantities.
• As necessary, obtain from other departments cost estimates to include trusses, millwork, and special-order materials to incorporate in cost estimate.
• Adept at mathematical calculations & formulas to determine quantities, areas, volume & forces on a structure.
• Ability to determine code required spans of joist, rafters & wood beams.
• Ability to accurately communicate with customers about cost estimates.
• Must be computer literate, including spreadsheet programs.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with the ability to produce construction drawings for use in the field.
• Produce individual structural calculation sheets for submission to Town Building Department(s) for permitting.
• Possess strong Geometry & Mathematical skills with a complete understanding of material units of measurement, conversions, weights & ratios.
• Solicit pricing from vendors for building components & customized material. Review quotes for errors, omissions & completeness.
• Ability to perform job site visits, measure components & review existing site conditions to solve critical issues.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Utilize companywide “Plan Log” to track progress & schedule projects.
• Working familiarity with software programs such as Bluebeam, BC Estimator, BC Framer, AutoCad, Revit & Adobe PDF would be a plus.
• 3-5 years structural wood framing experience a plus.
