Estimator - Materials analyzes job requirements and project proposals to estimate amounts and types of raw materials required to complete tasks. Researches and evaluates suppliers to ensure the availability of materials and confirm that materials meet the organization's standards of price and quality. Being an Estimator - Materials may need the ability to use CAD software and interpret technical documents such as blueprints or mechanical drawings. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Estimator - Materials typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Estimator - Materials occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. As a Estimator you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of multi million dollar projects.
Examples of these responsibilities include:
- Using estimating software to prepare accurate bids for construction project
- Analyze plans and specifications to determine overall project cost
- Visit projects to assess estimate accuracy
- Communicate with project management to ensure project efficiency
Our estimator needs to posses adequate computer skills, understand project management principles, capable of understanding project documents and contracts, and maintain supplier and subcontractor relationships.
