Ethics & Compliance Business Unit Specialist supports and coordinates the activities of the organization's global ethics and compliance function. Assists with the delivery and maintenance of programs to assess and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks and establish high ethical standards of conduct for the organization. Being an Ethics & Compliance Business Unit Specialist prepares materials that communicate the organization's ethical standards, policies, and regulations. Supports or delivers employee training programs that raise awareness about ethics-related topics such as Anti-Bribery, Anti-Corruption, Antitrust, Conflicts of Interest, and others. Additionally, Ethics & Compliance Business Unit Specialist generates reports of compliance monitoring statistics, investigations, outcomes, and remediations of any non-compliant actions. May administer reporting systems or helplines for employees, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders to disclose violations of the organization's ethical standards, violations of law, or policies without fear of retaliation. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Ethics & Compliance Business Unit Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Compliance Specialist

  • Under general supervision, incumbent is responsible for the enforcement of the Housing Authority's Collection and Eviction policy.
    1. Ensure adherence to and compliance with the timelines established in the policy.
    2. Coordinate with other staff in the department to assess status of delinquent accounts and initiates collection of delinquency.
    3. Represent the Housing Authority in court on cases of minor complexity such as eviction of tenant.
    4. Enforce the provisions of the Housing Authority's Collection and Eviction Policy against delinquent residents in coordination with other resident service staff.
    5. Monitor delinquent accounts with payback agreements for timely intervention to prevent resorting to the remedy of eviction.
    6. Maintain accurate, complete records of collection and counseling efforts for each case.
    7. Make recommendations on cases, which must be pursued through the tribal court, work with the Housing Authority's Attorney to prepare case for court proceedings and tribal (if necessary).
    8. Represent the Housing Authority in court on cases of minor complexity.
    9. Pursue repayment of amounts owed to the Housing Authority, by telephone, by mail, and in person, as the case may be, in compliance with established procedures.
    10. Coordinate with other staff members on delinquent accounts and prepares reports for use by other departments and upper management.
    11. Coordinate with other departmental staff in compiling information to be included in the Housing Authority's newsletter.
    12. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
    Knowledge of:
    • Effective fact-finding, communication techniques and tribal court procedures;
    • Problems and concerns of low-income individuals;
    • Cultural and social environment of the trial organization and administration;
    • HUD regulations, program requirements, policies, and procedures;
    • Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.
    Skills and Abilities:
    • Analyze delinquent account problems and in develop recommendations for feasible, effective solutions;
    • Deal effectively with residents on delinquent account and noncompliance matters;
    • Use personal computers and other office equipment;
    • Organize and complete the internal processes of record keeping activities;
    • Work well with people of varied socioeconomic backgrounds;
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other agencies and the general public;
    • Perform mathematical computations and general office duties;
    • Conduct research and prepare clear, concise reports and recommendations;
    • Follow verbal and written instructions;
    • Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
    • Achieve the goals and mission of the resident services department by bringing residents into compliance;
    • Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
    High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in housing assistance program: or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
    AND
    • Experience in or knowledge of legal proceedings preferred.

    Special Requirements:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
    • This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends. 
    • Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card or be able to obtain the Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
