  • Pro-Active Engineering is looking for a Buyer/Planner to monitor, track and manage material fulfillment requirements for long lead time, customer, cost driver, obsolete, broker supplied and customer supplied parts to align with planned customer work-order commitments. Plan work orders to meet customer delivery dates effectively.

    Essential Functions
    • Plan and purchase assigned parts including: Long lead time parts, custom fabricated parts (including printed circuit boards, machined metal parts, cable assemblies, and custom electronic components), cost drivers, obsolete parts, broken supplied parts, and customer supplied parts.
    • Effectively plan parts to ensure smooth flow without part outages.
    • Source or negotiate better pricing than quoted when possible, particularly for cost driven electronic components.
    • Schedule delivery of assigned parts to meet customer demands while minimizing inventory and containing or reducing cost.
    • Schedule work orders to meet customer demands and combine work orders to achieve labor cost savings where appropriate, while minimizing finished goods inventory.
    • Proactive analysis of information for planning systems to determine if process is in control to accurately meet customer demands.
    • For assigned parts: analyze reports/MRP, communicate with suppliers for potential problems. Take initiative to resolve said problem through communication and making necessary changes to MRP/Purchase orders. Escalate internally to resolve customer issues in a timely fashion.
    • Accurately, completely, and in a timely manner review status, provide direction and problem solution support on assigned commodities.
    • Maintain accurate purchase order dates in ERP System.
    • Communicate any delays in material receipts to all relevant departments. Resolve delays and adjust work order start dates as needed.
    • Communicate with suppliers to resolve nonconforming materials issues. Resolve SCARS while improving performance and delivery requirements.
    • In support of Pro-Active's commitment to customers; will develop and maintain a reliable, on time order status and delivery date schedules.
    • Collaborate with internal departments and supplies to facilitate new products and revisions.
    • Drive assigned suppliers to maintain targeted, on time delivery service levels, and to minimize replenishment lead times.
    • Proactively work with suppliers to address end of life, at risk, or any changes in lead times for supplies.
    • Assist in qualification of alternate source items for current sole source components.

    Required Education and Experience
    • Associate's degree in related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years of procurement-related experience or demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the purchasing tasks.
    • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    Preferred Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field.
    • Five years of experience in procurement-related role.
    • Proven track record of driving cost reduction through purchasing of materials.
    • Prior product familiarization/knowledge.
