Job Description:
Seeking an experienced, dynamic engineering leader with expertise in metals, energetics, and manufacturing processes to drive innovation and technology development. This role requires a visionary leader who will build and mentor a cross-functional engineering team spanning key disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical Engineering. The CTO will lead the charge in solving complex manufacturing challenges, introducing new ideas, and optimizing processes to advance our product portfolio.
Duties:
- Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring team excellence across all engineering functions
- Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and inspire a cohesive, innovative engineering team capable of driving solutions across various technical challenges
- Partnership & Outreach: Forge strategic relationships with academic institutions, fostering internship programs and joint projects to develop early-stage talent
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong partnerships with customers and external stakeholders, meeting their needs through cutting-edge engineering solutions
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, track expenses, and oversee Internal Research and Development (IRAD) and Contracted Research and Development (CRAD) programs to drive innovation cost-effectively
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations
- Reporting & Communication: Provide clear, concise project updates and technical presentations to senior management, customers, and external partners
Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree in Engineering (PhD preferred); additional MBA is advantageous
- Experience: Over 20 years in engineering leadership, particularly within metal machining, energetics, and machine technology
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead high-performing technical teams in complex, high-tech environments
- Relationship Building: Demonstrated experience in establishing partnerships with academic institutions, including fostering internship programs and collaborative projects
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of emerging technologies, engineering principles, and industry trends
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and experience with data-driven decision-making
- Software Proficiency: Familiar with engineering-related software, Microsoft Office, and tools for project tracking and reporting
Other Requirements:
- Travel: Travel to support multiple locations, clients, and partners
- Background Check: Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen required
- Compliance: Must be a U.S. Citizen
