    This position may be filled at the trainee level. Candidates would be required to serve a two-year traineeship that leads to the SG- 18 position.

    Individuals certified eligible for the 55b/c program under the Governor’s Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55b/c of the Civil Service Law who possess a Bachelor’s degree will also be considered.     Duties Description
    Under the direction of the Financial Analyst 2 (WC), the Financial Analyst 1 (WC) would be assigned to the TPA Contracts section of Special Funds and would perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:
    • Review requests for funding for medical and indemnity payments associated with Special Fund claims being administered by the Board’s contracted Third Party Administrators (TPAs) , including but not limited to:
    • Review of requests against claim records and Claims Information System (CIS) to ensure that appropriate payment rates are used to calculate amounts;
    • Review requests for indemnity reimbursement against CIS to validate other requested amounts (e.g.; Section 32s, lump sum payments) are appropriate for reimbursement;
    • Review requests for medical reimbursement against claim records to ensure requests are valid;
    • Review requests for medical payments against the appropriate fee schedule to ensure proper payment;
    • Audit prior payments made per claim to identify potential duplicate requests for funding;
    • Work with TPAs to ensure proper administration of the claims including properly calculated and documented claim-related payments;
    • Work with Accounting to direct creation of vouchers in SFS and submit associated back up files to the Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) for approval;
    • Investigate and respond to inquiries from OSC regarding transactions;
    • Work in Access database to process and track requests for funding.
