Executive Pastry Chef leads the production and presentation of pastries and baked goods including sourcing, purchasing, inventory, and cost control. Develops and tests recipes and sources ingredients to create unique pastries and baked goods. Being a Executive Pastry Chef creates dessert menus that complement meal offerings, appeal to diners and maximize profits. Follows all applicable guidelines and regulations for food handling and safety. Additionally, Executive Pastry Chef maintains a clean and orderly workstation and kitchen equipment. May require an associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent. Typically reports to an executive chef. The Executive Pastry Chef supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Executive Pastry Chef typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. You will prepare, develop, and create delicious desserts for our restaurant Kahill’s Chophouse, and for our banquet events at our hotel following standards set by our executive chef and the food and beverage director. You will meet with customers to discuss details and planning of custom-made desserts for special occasions such as weddings and holidays. Ensure the bakery section of the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations. Develop new seasonal recipes and menus and keep up with the latest trends. You will oversee the entire pastry and baked goods: ordering, handling – kitchen receiving, storage, rotation, utilization, preparation, and development of food related standards and procedures.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working in the food industry as a Pastry Chef.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by the Executive Chef and/or General Manager.
- Flexible with hours and ability to work extra hours during holidays.
- Manual dexterity
- Reliable form of transportation
- Ability to work well with other associates
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Time management to maximize productivity
