Ocean Freight Manager 

Locations: Long Island

Our client is an international importer, supplier, and distributor of chemicals and raw materials. They are an established player in the international commercial chemical markets, providing companies worldwide with raw materials and supply chain solutions sourced from around the world, primarily the Far East. The Ocean Logistics Manager leads the implementation of Ocean freight strategies globally. 

This individual adeptly identifies clear roles, responsibilities, performance requirements, and targets for the Team. S/he monitors performance through KPIs, resolves issues promptly and accurately, directs and drives high performance, objectives success, and service quality through well-defined metrics.

Job Description:

• Create and lead the implementation of Ocean freight strategies globally that optimize costs, improve delivery times, and ensure safety and compliance are met within defined regulations.
• Ensure that transportation operations are standardized and according to compliance globally.
• Lead continues improvement initiatives using transportation data, including carrier performance and freight costs, to identify areas for improvement and cost savings. Ensure accurate demand forecasts are used to create equipment requirements for all freight movements.
• Influence and enforce root cause analysis within the regional teams to understand operational failures and drive corrective actions.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis and reporting as required.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices, identifying opportunities to adopt new technologies or strategies that can improve logistics operations.
• Provides efficient planning, direction, and coordination of the activities of employees.

Qualifications:

• TMS systems; Oracle Transportation Management (OTM): 5 years (Preferred)
• Ocean freight: 5 years (Required)
• managing ocean carriers KPIs: 5 years (Required)
• Management: 5 years (Preferred)
• Knowledgeable in transportation operation, regulations
• 5 to 7 years ocean freight experience.
• TMS and ERP working experience.
• Team management skills
• Cost control experience
• Vendor management
• Background with root cause analysis and successful solutions
• Can run Weekly/Monthly Business review with vendors
• Proactive with good analytical skills
