Position Summary
The Museum Educator plays an essential role in providing students and teachers with a high-quality in-gallery and digital tour experience. The primary responsibility of the Museum Educator is to inspire and guide learners to make personally relevant connections in, through, and about the arts; they prioritize learners' identities, personal voice, and moments of choice-making.
The Educator demonstrates a commitment to addressing educational inequities, and the scarcity of empathy and social imagination through curricular connections to the Museum's collection. The core programmatic areas connected to this role include: The Walker School Tour Program, My Museum Art
Kits, Crystal Bridges in the Classroom, and other programs as needed.
Under the direction and supervision of the Manager of School Programs, the Educator will facilitate discussion and activities rooted in culturally responsive teaching methodologies. The Educator will work closely with the Manager of School Programs and the Senior Museum Educator to review tour reservations, scheduling, and provide project support. This position requires an understanding of antibias teaching practices, strong facilitation skills, and empathy.
