Exploration Director directs and develops an organization's oil and gas exploration projects. Analyzes and evaluates the opportunities, risk and profits for oil and gas deposits exploration. Being an Exploration Director initiates exploration plans based on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Directs geological and geophysical programs and may have oversight for land acquisition and leasing activities. Additionally, Exploration Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Exploration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Exploration Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.   • Arcosa Aggregates is searching for a Mineral Exploration Manager responsible for the Western Aggregates Division based in the Phoenix, Arizona area. In this role, you will support a positive safety culture while directing activities within a mining environment regulated by MSHA safety standards. As the Mineral Exploration Manager, you will support Division operations managers by directing the acquisition of reliable exploration drilling data, updating Arcosa’s mineral exploration database, reviewing and interpreting laboratory data, building deposit models, delineating reserves, and making recommendations for further exploration where needed across the Division. This position reports to the Director of the Exploration and Land Group.

    What you will do:

    • Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations.
    • Understand and promote a safe culture and working environment.
    • Manage all aspects of exploration within the Division including drill planning and oversight of 3rd party contract drilling firms.
    • Implement effective aggregate investigation strategies.
    • Promptly update Arcosa’s mineral exploration database as information is received from the field and laboratory.
    • Interpret lithology and laboratory analysis as related to the salability of desired end use products.
    • Build isopach models characterizing overburden thickness, deposit thickness, stripping ratio, and any other relevant metric that can be derived from available data.
    • Prepare defensible resource estimates of saleable material consistent with the various economic, environmental, mining, and quality constraints faced at each facility.
    • Develop strong relationships with Division operations managers and convey relevant resource information in a clear and concise manner.
    • Assist with organizing data to substantiate Arcosa’s reserves annually pursuant to S-K 1300.
    • Acquire, process and review GPS surveys, aerial photography, elevation data sets, property ownership data sets, geological maps, and other data used to characterize Arcosa resources within ArcGIS Pro.

    What you will need:

    • College degree in geology or mining engineering required.
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the aggregate or closely related industry
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience with core, sonic, auger, bail or other geotechnical drilling and exploration methods required.
    • Competency with ArcGIS Pro, Database Management, and contouring software.
    • Strong analytical skills necessary for evaluating resource quantity and quality issues.
    • Knowledge of aggregate industry specifications preferred. Aggregate QC/QA experience preferred.
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in different geographic locations.
    • Strong organizational skills required.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
    • Computer literate in Microsoft Office business and proficient keyboarding skills.
    • Must be willing to travel overnight and work outdoors.
    • Must be able to follow safety rules and procedures
    • Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
    • Positive, Team-based attitude
