Exploration Director directs and develops an organization's oil and gas exploration projects. Analyzes and evaluates the opportunities, risk and profits for oil and gas deposits exploration. Being an Exploration Director initiates exploration plans based on compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Directs geological and geophysical programs and may have oversight for land acquisition and leasing activities. Additionally, Exploration Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Exploration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Exploration Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     DESCRIPTION

    The Director of Religious Exploration (DRE) oversees and manages the Religious Exploration Program (RE) for children and youth from birth to 18 years of age. The role includes planning and administering a comprehensive program that nurtures spiritual and religious growth and fosters a strong UU identity.

    DUTIES

    • Collaborate with the minister and worship team to provide intergenerational worship experiences.
    • At the minister’s request, create and present Time For All Ages content during non-intergenerational worship services.
    • Train and oversee volunteers in safe congregation policies and practices and ensure compliance.
    • Attend weekly staff meetings, bi-monthly worship team meetings, and annual worship and staff retreats.
    • Maintain accurate administrative records, including the RE calendar and all enrolled families in our database.
    • Track and manage the RE budget over the course of the year.
    • Regularly communicate RE planning and programming with the minister, staff, teachers, volunteers, parents, and congregation.
    • Welcome new families.
    • Pursue professional development and connect with RE colleagues from other congregations in the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and LREDA (professional group for religious education professionals).
    • Supervise childcare workers and the RE Assistant.
    • Supervise and support the members of the RE Council with their portfolios (to be determined after convening of the council in Fall 2024)

    SKILLS

    The DRE is an emotionally and spiritually mature team player and consensus builder. They have strong emotional intelligence and enjoy working with children of all ages. They are flexible, organized, and time-efficient and can prioritize demands with keen attention to detail. They are comfortable with public speaking, open to learning and identifying different approaches, and comfortable with the possibility that experiments might fail.

    The DRE is always welcome to participate in our community's many activities. However, participation in certain church events does not count toward work hours unless approved in writing in advance.

    The DRE will abide by the code of professional conduct and guidelines set forth by the Liberal Religious Educators Association. ()

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:

    • Associates Degree or BS/BA in child development, teaching, or an associated program. Candidates may be enrolled in these programs but have yet to attain a degree.
    • Experience working with children and families.
    • Teaching experience (volunteer or professional).
    • Familiarity with teaching Unitarian Universalism (i.e., polity, history, and theology).
    • Sunday availability (off one Sunday per month).
    • Must pass a background check.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with children who have special needs.
    • Experience in religious education in a tolerant religious congregation.
    • Familiarity with UU curricula for children and youth and evolving UU faith formation.

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
