Extrusion Operator jobs in Connecticut
Extrusion Operator sets up and operates an extrusion machine in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery. Being an Extrusion Operator adjusts and cleans machines. Documents work performed as required. Additionally, Extrusion Operator may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. The Extrusion Operator possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Summary: The NPD Extrusion Operator is responsible for operating extrusion lines for a variety of tubing configurations, including multi-material, tapered tubing and wire braid.The Operator will work closely with Extrusion Engineers on ongoing development projects as well as first time proof-of-concept extrusions.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Operate extrusion lines with guidance from Engineering. Includes startup, sizing, in-process measurements and product savings.
- Prepare for extrusion runs based on the extrusion schedule, including drying materials and extrusion line setup.
- Read and understand specifications and development goals based on engineering input and opportunity qualification and verification sheet.
- Shut down and clean out extruders. Perform inventory transactions.
Required Qualifications:- 1 years of experience working in the manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to perform basic math calculations and use a computer.
- Must have mechanical aptitude, understand force, pressure, temperature etc.
Preferred Qualifications:- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Post-secondary education in a mechanical or engineering program
- Prior experience working with Plastics extrusion or medical device manufacturing.
- Experience manufacturing products in a regulated industry.
