Extrusion Operator, Sr. sets up and operates an extrusion machine in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery. Being an Extrusion Operator, Sr. adjusts and cleans machines. Documents work performed as required. Additionally, Extrusion Operator, Sr. may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Extrusion Operator, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. While reporting to the Extrusion Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating all Extrusion equipment in a safe manner. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organization skills, and attention to detail.
Day to day responsibilities include- Set up and operate and extrusion machine and ensure proper dimensions are set up
- Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, and amounts, dimensions and flow of materials or ingredients
- Ensure that quality expectations are met and notify lead technician, or supervisor, when extruded product fails to meet standards
- Record and Maintain production data such as meter readings ad quantities, types and dimensions of materials produced
- Turn controls to adjust machine functions, such as regulating air pressure or die gaps
This position is in our Plastics facility in beautiful Franklin Park, IL- At least one year of experience as an extrusion operator in a plastic packaging environment (must have been the operator or lead operator not helper or roll hanger)
- 2 years of machine operator experience
- 2 years of manufacturing experience
- Experience in injection molding
- Ability to read, write, and perform math skills
- Sense of urgency and responsibility
- Understanding of manufacturing and quality control
- Lift 50lbs
