Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Mackinac Straits Health System, located right across the Mackinac Bridge, due to an upcoming retirement is looking for a Full Time Facilities Director to join our leadership team! The Facilities Director manages and directs daily activities of the hospital maintenance department. Prioritizes, coordinates, and assigns work through verbal instructions/directions, hospital work requests, and, as requested from upper management, follows the daily work via meetings with maintenance staff to ensure proper installation, repairs, and equipment operations exist. Monitors routine and preventative maintenance and code activities to ensure utilities, environmental systems and other building systems operate properly and efficiently.

Essential duties for this position Include (but not limited to):
· Assists maintenance staff in prioritizing work tasks, scheduling work, and securing materials. Reviews work quality upon completion to assure compliance.
· Establishes service intervals, PM routines, and parts inventories; monitors effectiveness of PM program, alters program as needed. Advises on upgrades, modifications, or operational changes which will improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, or extend life of equipment.
· Coordinates with contractors as necessary
· Reviews work plans prior to activating them to ensure that codes and standards are met or exceeded.
· Establishes performance standards, monitors performance of maintenance staff to ensure standards are met or exceeded; set goals for maintenance staff, advise them of their progress of meeting such goals
· Monitors staff productivity, sets schedules, allots time to work tasks, provides insight and guidance to solve operational problems
· Works with maintenance staff to establish a routine for monitoring interior and grounds activities, sees that weekly interior/ ground tours are conducted, responds to any upcoming weather concerns promptly
· Seeks competitive bids on work or materials, works with purchasing department to secure supplies and services
· Maintains records of routine services as requires by DNV, CMS, or other agencies (such as fire alarm testing, sprinkler testing, generator testing, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma required; college degree in engineering or related field preferred
· 3-5 years of facilities maintenance is required, preferably in a hospital setting
· Familiarity with building codes, NFPA, DNV standards is strongly preferred
· Excellent attendance record, customer service focused, have a team approach as a leader, and ability to work a flexible schedule (including weekends and holidays as needed)
· Basic technical reporting and computer skills; Ability to understand/ follow policies and procedures
