FACILITIES SUPERVISOR supervises and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance and support of buildings, grounds, and facilities systems. Oversees staff installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management. Being a FACILITIES SUPERVISOR tracks work orders and ensures work follows established service and quality standards for completion. Schedules and supervises preventative maintenance, painting, or carpentry projects. Additionally, FACILITIES SUPERVISOR maintains a safe and effective working environment that complies with regulations and laws. May coordinate work to be completed by contractors and skilled trades. Typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Facility Maintenance and Repairs: Oversee and schedule regular building maintenance and repairs, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and structural issues. Ensure that the work is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
· Grounds Keeping: Coordinate and oversee grounds keeping activities including snow and lawn services.
· Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all facilities meet health, safety, and environmental standards and comply with government regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
· Budget Management: Work with leadership to develop and manage the annual facilities budget. Monitor expenses, negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers, and seek cost-effective solutions for facility maintenance and upgrades. Work with Procurement on purchasing of facilities related inventory.
· Vendor and Contractor Management: Recommend and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors. Ensure that all external parties comply with contractual obligations and company standards.
· Space Planning: Oversee space planning and allocation to optimize the use of the facility. Coordinate internal moves and manage changes to office layouts.
· Team Leadership: Lead and manage the facilities team, including maintenance staff and custodians. Provide training, set goals, and conduct performance evaluations.
· Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency plans for natural disasters, power outages, and other unforeseen events. Ensure that all employees are familiar with emergency procedures.
· Sustainability Initiatives: Promote and implement sustainable practices within the facilities to reduce environmental impact and improve energy efficiency.
· Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the point of contact for facility-related issues. Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders regarding facility status and ongoing projects.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical degree is preferred. 5 years’ experience in maintenance and a background in supervision, or equivalent of education and experience. Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Demonstrated leadership skills. Carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and carpentry training or experience. Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment. Ability to coach, mentor, and empower team members to succeed. High level of patience and service. Ability to motivate team members. Problem-solving abilities. Ability to identify waste and creatively look for solutions. Ability to be flexible and multitask. Ability to read blueprints and maintain accurate records. Proficient with computers.
