The Facility Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots and repairs facilities mechanical components and electrical systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies. Performs skilled maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other physical structures. Being a Facility Maintenance Technician recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required. Develops, maintains and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools. In addition, Facility Maintenance Technician assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to improve facility efficiency and work flow. Oversee and review the work of lower-level technicians. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to supervior or manager. Being a Facility Maintenance Technician works under moderate supervision. Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Working as a Facility Maintenance Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:
1. Maintains inventory of repair parts for patient transport equipment, Patient TV’s, patient related furniture and other building materials. Reports inventory to Maintenance Lead.
2. Maintains equipment as needed.
3. Works in conjunction with department Managers, ensuring the proper selection and installation of preferred building materials and other specialty items.
4. Completes and documents maintenance work order assignments on a daily basis.
5. Performs repair/preventive maintenance as needed, or assigned.
6. Provides general renovation and installation services, repairing partitions, ceilings and floors.
7. Maintains parts inventory and repairs patient TV’s, patient transport equipment, exam room tables, patient room furnishings, pneumatic tube system equipment, blood pressure equipment, etc.
8. Provides support to Assistant Director as needed, arranging minor contract repairs and equipment installations.
9. Performs general building repairs of partitions, doors, windows, floors, etc. in a neat workmanlike manner.
10. Installs shelves, cabinets and other small carpentry items in a neat, workmanlike manner.
11. Completes required paperwork in a neat and timely manner, i.e. work orders, requisitions, logs and daily report.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Vocational/trade school courses preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Experience: Four years progressive experience in general building maintenance in a healthcare facility.
