Seeking a Military Veteran, National Guardsman, Reservist, or Military Spouse for a Field Engineer position with 0 to 5 years of experience who is interested in installation, construction, monitoring, assessment, regulatory compliance, design, and operations and maintenance of environmental control and monitoring systems for landfills, transfer stations, remediation sites, and other sites requiring environmental mitigation or protection measures.
This position will include frequent field work, travel and overnight stays including weekends will be required. As our Field Engineer you will take direction from and work with senior technical staff. Position Description/Requirements:
§ A passion for construction providing monitoring and documentation of construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities including field inspection and testing of soils and geosynthetic liners. On-site job training will be provided, as necessary.
§ Your field duties will include the following: supervision and performance of construction quality assurance and construction quality control activities in several states, including the construction of landfill components and other environmental control systems; collaboration and coordination with senior staff and management and direction of support staff.
§ Analyzing technical data and preparing technical reports such as operating plans, CQA reports, and permit applications.
§ This is a field position that requires out of town assignments that include working 6-7 days per week. This includes having to stay in hotels for extended periods. All travel expenses are covered for out-of-town assignment.
§ Even though this is a full-time position, it should be realized that this position will have down periods of time due to project scheduling and weather, to include reduced hours and possible layoff during the winter months. Typically, a Field Engineer works a full year (2080 hours) within a nine-month construction season.
§ This position requires a valid driver’s license, passing a motor vehicle review (MVR), and passing a drug screening.
Qualifications:
§ Bachelor or Associates of Science in engineering or construction management preferred but may be substituted for construction management experience.
§ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
§ Willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment.
§ Flexible schedule and ability to travel out-of-town for extended periods.
§ Proficiency MS Word and Excel preferred.
§ Proficiency in Surveying desired
§ Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D desired.
§ Soils mechanics class with laboratory desired.
