Being a Field Engineer - Construction follows quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consult with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineer - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Construction Field Engineer to be based in Murray, Utah.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
Under limited supervision, conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Assist the Resident Engineer in their duties.
Participate in submittal, RFI, RFC, construction submittal reviews, claim reviews and draft responses for review by the Resident Engineer.
Monitor and report on construction progress.
Participate in meetings.
Coordinate the work of field inspectors.
Assist the RE in managing project field staff and perform field inspection and documentation of Contractor's activities.
Perform field measurements for quantity calculations and reporting for pay estimates.
Communicate effectively with the project team, including Clients, Contractors, and Project Stakeholders.
Works on projects of substantial complexity.
May assume lead responsibilities for a team of engineers and professional support personnel.
Provide quality inspection to ensure that job is being built in accordance with approved plans.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS 2 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Driving is required for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
4 years of experience with construction of highways/roads/bridges.
Able to effectively communicate and negotiate with contractors and clients.
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with UDOT MasterWorks and ProjectWise Systems
Experience with UDOT highway/bridge construction and maintenance projects.
Extensive knowledge UDOT Standard Specifications, Materials Testing Requirements.
Thorough knowledge of UDOT construction contract administration procedures.
Additional Information
Offered rate of compensation (Utah locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $91,000
