    Heavy Equipment Operator – Kuparuk Field Support Services – Road and Pads

     

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating of the daily workload, and carrying out projects as well as the safe operation of our heavy equipment fleet.  The duties of this position will involve maintaining and repairing roads, airport runway and drill site pads. Winter road, runway and pad maintenance which includes snow removal. Material handling and material organization on the pads in the Kuparuk field.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • This position reports directly to the Roads & Pads Foreman.
    • The operator must be able to perform pad, road and runway maintenance and repair. The roads, runway and pads will be maintained to specified crown, grade and elevation. Winter road, runway and pad maintenance to include snow removal. Supplying the facilities, assisting in facility maintenance and construction with equipment support. Provide drill rig moves with equipment support.
    • This position involves being able to become OSHA certified in trenching and excavation and to perform trenching and excavating activities in a safe and proficient manner.
    • This is a heavy equipment operating position and the candidate selected must be able to operate the equipment in Kuparuk’s fleet safely and proficiently. The fleet consists of but is not limited to Cat dozers, Volvo front end loaders, Cat compactors, Cat excavators, Kenworth, Peterbilt 5th wheel tractors, Bobcat, Volvo skid steers, 16 Cat blades, lowboy, flat bed and end dump trailers, Loader mounted snow Blowers, water trucks, rock trucks.
    • Be familiar with and capable of using rotary lasers and site levels to establish grade and set grade hubs and stakes.
    • Prepare, update, and maintain logs, records, and time cards.
    • Be able to monitor equipment operation, perform pre-operation inspections, identify malfunctions, fill out maintenance requests and clean equipment.
    • Needs to be able to inspect, adjust, and perform minor equipment repairs.
    • Help prepare and maintain inventory of supplies, PPE, equipment and tools.
    • Must realize that safety, and the environment are our #1 priority here at Kuparuk.
    • Any other duties as assigned.
    • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
    • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Minimum of one (1) year dirt work experience required.
    • Minimum of a Class A Commercial driver’s license, tankers endorsement and current US DOT Medical Card required.
    • Valid driver’s license required.
    • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • OSHA certification in excavating and trenching preferred.
    • Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment preferred.

    WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

    While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you.  All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms.   Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift.  Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp.  Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.  Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:

     

    • Meet the AES Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy.

    • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
